Draft 6 ; Trouble Awaits

"This isn't going to last anymore, it's not fair for us!" Kuma exclaimed, slamming his fists on the table.

Kuma, along with his ancestors were not born in Sri Lanka. As a result, they did not have the citizenship rights to education, job, housing and voting in the country. Everything that they do, the Sinhalese had the priority.

Sundram was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. All he needed to do was open his hands and he would get what he asked for. However, he did not repay his parents with his results, instead he often fools around and does not hand in his work on time. He has a neighbour, Kuma, who comes from a poor family and learned to treasure everything beside him.

His results were always top in the school and his parents do not have to worried about him. Both of them were taking their "O’s "this year but Sundram was not nervous about it. On the other hand, Kuma has been working very hard just to achieve good results to get into the best University and give his parents a good life.

As the days pass by in the blink of an eye, their "O "level ended. Sundram got 4B3 and 1B4 and for his Sinhalese B3. However, Kuma got 3A2 and 2B3 and for his Sinhalese, B3. Both applied for the same University and waited for their reply. Fate, striked a cruel hand, since then, Kuma's face had always been glum. His application was not accepted but Sundram's application was taken in. The reason for Kuma's rejection was that he was an Indian Tamil and Sundram was a Sinhalese. The only University that Kuma was being taken in was one of the worst Universities in Sri Lanka and the distance from his house to that University was close to 11km.

Kuma was very unpleased with the type of treatment that the Sinhalese had to endure. When their ancestors came here before 1970, they had equal chances in schooling. There were no University admission criterion as long as your results were good. After 1970s, the admission was not was on merit anymore. The Tamils had to score a higher mark then the Sinhalese students in order to secure a position in the University. Furthermore, the number of Tamil students studying there were a small and fixed amount.

Under the help of the India government, they thought that they could return to India in order for their son's future. However, their dreams were not to be when the Sri Lankan government did not fully carry out this agreement.

For the next few years, Kuma worked as a tea boy in a tea plantation, waiting for a chance for him to get a revenge on the Sinhalese government. However, what agitated him further was the resettlement policy.Sinhalese peasants from southwestern Sri Lanka that had no land were relocated to the concentrated north of the Tamil area. The piece of land that Kuma was working on was given to the Sinhalese farmers to farm. Kuma was the sole breadwinner; his family were to depend on Kuma meagre income to live on. Now, the only source of income was gone, Kuma was infuriated and wanted fairness for him and his fellows Indians.

His agony ended in the 1976 when Prabhakaran, the leader of a group called the Liberation Tigers of the Tamil Eelam, LTTE, was set up. They recruited young soldiers below 18 to take up arms against the Sri Lankan government. Their main purpose was to fight for a separate Tamil homeland in the north and east of Sri Lanka in order to protect the Tamil people from the so-called oppression and discrimination by the Sinhalese. When Kuma heard about it, he found a few of his friends who were also dissatisfied with the treatment they got and joined it.

However, after all these years of fighting and killing, the LTTE was finally defeated. However, given the LTTE's organizational structure and past activities, things might not stay the same. Will peace stay in Sri Lanka or will LTTE will be back for more?

Discussion on my career choice ;

Hello readers ,
Have your wondered why rich people are often doing sales and not working as a salary-paid man ?
From my view , I'hv seen successful people driving big car , living in big houses
are all either insurance agent or property agent .
Therefore i'hv have chosen my future career as a property agent ,
Must be wondering why i chose this job ?
The work time is flexible ,
thus ,
part time or full time is welcomed :D
What the jobs need to do ,
is to make client happy and either buy property through you ,
or selling property by your words :D
I have a natural persuasive voice ,
and with the help of expositions ,
i can earn money fast .
Cause i love to talk , and talking is what a property agent need
Commissions ,
A payment to a person for his role as an agent in buying or selling something on someone's behalf . Usually based on a percentage of the cost price or the selling price .
For property , likely to be 1% .
The agent will receive 1% of the commission from his client and the buyer .
Therefore,
2% of the property belong to you ,
the higher the price ,
once it's deal-ed .
the more money you earn .
For example ,
a property worth of $250,000 is sold ,
you earn 1% of the commission .
that is equal to 1/100 x $250,000 = $2500
That's only for 1 property .
Just imagine ,
if you manage to sell 5 properties in a month ,
$2500 X 5 = $12,500
12 thousand isn't a small amount ;D
Sounds attractive right ?
I also have quite a large network of friends ,
making my networking easy .
My client could be either my friends or their friends ,
So , networking is a important factor to be look out for in property agents .
However , risks are involved .
During low times ,
like the recession recently ,
property agents will be losing out .
So..
once i reach 21 ,
the recession should be over ,
and the property economy will rise again .
For now , bye :D
